Treatment of scoliosis. How to treat scoliosis of children?
In the modern world, such disease as scoliosis is very widespread. The medical definition of scoliosis – this is a disease of the locomotor apparatus, the distinguishing characteristic of which is the deformation of the spine to the side, with displaced vertebras around its axis, which also leads to disruption of the thorax functions, to functional changes of internal organs and to cosmetic defects. If we expose the simplest the scoliosis is a lateral deformation of the spine. The danger of appearance of the disease occurs mainly in the process of intensive growth of the spine, at ages between 4 and 15 years, in other words in childhood.
How occurs scoliosis of children? How to treat scoliosis? Before talking about the causes of occurrence and methods of treatment, it is necessary to note that scoliosis may be congenital and acquired. The basis of congenital scoliosis distinguishes the following types of spinal deformations: underdeveloped spine, deformity of sphenoidal vertebras, additional vertebras. The acquired scoliosis at the children is classified as: rheumatic, rachitic, paralytic and usual. But this is only the basic list of the most common types of disease.
Causes of scoliosis appearance.
The acquired scoliosis in the most cases starts with disruption of child bearing – intervertebral discs feeling a different lateral pressure and gradually move to the smaller resistance. The danger of scoliosis at the children consists of the fact that if the measures are not taken, then the disease will progress, which also often goes unnoticed, because the body tries to compensate the deformation by moving of intervertebral discs in the opposite direction of the initial deformation. There are some causes that may lead to spinal deformity:
- Underdevelopment of muscular – ligamentous apparatus, irregular bearing.
- Physiological characteristics of human structure – flat feet, different length of the leg, strabismus, myopia, etc.
- Professional characteristics – irregular position at the workplace, usual deformed bearing.
- Asymmetric development of muscular system due to unilateral paralysis or rheumatism.
- Traumatic injuries, for example, fracture on the spine level.
- Poor physical development due to irregular alimentation.
- Supported diseases – rachitis, tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, radiculitis, etc.
Scoliosis can be distinguished: after the formation place – cervical thoracic – cervical, thoracic – lumbar, lumbar, lumbosacral and total, after the deformation form – C-shaped, S- shaped and Z-shaped.
